Successful Affiliate Marketing Strategies

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Affiliate marketing is simply a system of advertising wherein an affiliate agrees to host links of various forms and receives commission whenever a visitor clicks on the link and performs a desired action. Being an affiliate would cost you nothing. You can just host the links, do nothing else, and still have the chance of earning money. But why waste such a golden opportunity?

Affiliate marketing is a goldmine requiring no financial investment but just plain hard work. So here are a few tips to make your career as an affiliate gain monetary rewards.

Be a Good Copywriter – Articles that have been written and proven successful can be included in your website and gain similar results just as long as you know how to make effective marketing copies of it. Although copywriting at first glance seems like a simple copy-paste-process, copywriting actually involves rewriting articles to make them uniquely yours but at the same time effective in achieving the desired reaction from the readers.

If you’re a good copywriter, you can constantly provide new content for your website without having to research extensively. A continuous flow of new content is critical to succeeding in affiliate marketing. Providing new content regularly keeps the attention on you and at the same increasing the chances of readers clicking the links you’re hosting.

Copywriting is Not Everything – This doesn’t contradict the first tip. Copywriting is important, yes, but an affiliate marketer should not completely depend on articles and other content “borrowed” from other websites. Once readers have figured this out for themselves, they might not visit your website anymore since everything you have in your website can be seen in other sites.

Invest time and effort in creating new and original content once in a while. You don’t have to do them all the time but you do have to do them often enough for your readers to know that they can expect something fresh from you. This will make them come back for more and once again increase the chances of getting those links clicked!

Communicate, Communicate, Communicate – There are many ways for a website owner to communicate with his readers and you should take advantage of as many ways as possible to obtain greater affiliate marketing success. Constant communication would serve as a regular reminder of what you’re offering and in time, it could even contribute in making you a part of your reader’s regular routine.

Besides sending out emails, creating newsletters, videos, and podcasts, you can also create a blog and give out your IM handlers to open more communication channels. Interaction is truly the key to affiliate marketing success!

If You Can Afford It, Give It – If you’re already earning from affiliate marketing, you should consider sharing your rewards with your loyal readers and visitors. You can do this by handling out freebies during the holidays, holding raffles and contests, and offering benefits and privileges to old customers. Whatever you can afford to give – don’t hesitate to give it! This is not an act of throwing money but just another way of letting your readers know you appreciate their help and loyalty and at the same time ensuring that they’re still in your side.

Reminding about Connections – Last but not the least, remember to always connect your posts and other content directly or at least indirectly to the merchandising website. If you’ve joined an affiliate program for Amazon, you can write book reviews and then use the Amazon link for those desiring to purchase what you’ve reviewed.

The Best Products to Market Online

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

While you can sell virtually anything you want on the Internet, there are certain products that are easier to market for various reasons.

INFORMATION – Infoproducts are arguably the easiest to market and sell online. Electronic infoproducts do not require actual space to store and you can produce infinite copies of it in a short period of time. Regardless of whether they’re actual books or saved in other formats, infoproducts are easy to market because you can give away sample texts without giving away the entire content.

PRODUCTS WITH SAMPLES – Speaking of samples, products which you can offer immediate samples for people to see are easier to market online. Web designs and layouts, photographs, artworks, and other similar products can be marketed easily since its makers will only have to display their portfolios and past products. These will readily give customers an idea of what to expect from the sellers.

EASY DELIVERY – Products you can promise fast and easy delivery for are definitely better to market online. Again, infoproducts satisfy this criterion: they do not have expiry dates and may be therefore delivered any time. Flowers can wilt so there’s a duration date as to when they can be delivered or not. The same can be said for food products. Unless you have the means to store them safely and for an indefinite period of time, guaranteeing fresh delivery for your customers, these products will require greater marketing efforts in your part.

SOFTWARE PRODUCTS – Expect majority of Internet users to have adequate knowledge and interest in software products. As such, you’ll find it easier to market software products to them because they’re more likely to understand the descriptions you provide than prospective customers you meet elsewhere. With Internet users, it’s easier to determine benefits offered by software products.

And because word-of-mouth marketing is extremely powerful in the Internet, you need only satisfy one customer and they’ll surely refer other customers to your website!

RARE AND UNIQUE ITEMS – The Internet offers people global access. Emails are unconcerned with geographical destinations. As long as there is Internet connection provided, they are sure to reach the specified recipient and at no extra cost. Consequently, the Internet gives people the opportunity to market products that may be considered rare or unique in other parts of the world.

The local market for strawberry wine may, for instance, already be saturated but this is not the case if you’re targeting African communities on the Internet.

Secrets to Internet Marketing Success
In the end, however, an experienced and knowledgeable Internet marketer will find it easy to market just about any type of product as long as he does the following:

PROVIDE PROOF – Internet users are more likely to purchase your products and services if you provide substantial proof of your claims. These can take the form of photographs, testimonials, or any other trustworthy material.

BE CONVINCING – Marketing content must clearly explain the features and more importantly the benefits of the products or services you’re selling. If there are other indirect benefits offered together with the decision to purchase them, these must be stated as well. And marketing articles or descriptions must always end with a call to action!

EXPOSURE – Last but not the least, your website must obtain as much traffic as possible. The more people who see your products and services, the more chances you have for marketing and selling them!
